The sun is shining and I thought it would be perfect to do a little spring shopping. I'm tired of wearing jumpers and well, winter things.
The thing is, I have boobs and the majority of shops(including shops that sell to the more fuller figured woman) seem to sell tunic tops or tops suitable for one as flat as a pancake(maybe the ones flat as a pancake should partake in a few extra pancakes today!)
These tops are just no good for me. Yes, I could do with losing a few lbs, or more but I don't want to look like a human tent! I want to wear clothes that will flatter my curves, yet embrace them all at once.
SAY NO TO TENTS!
Here are random examples from a couple high street shops. These are their latest arrivals

You have to start somewhere
A few weeks ago, a dear friend of mine and I were talking over dinner and I can't remember how we got on the topic, but she asked me if I could bake a couple of desserts for her to bring to a dinner party she was attending. Initially I had a panic, but I decided on key lime pie(I know its not seasonal, but..) and black forest cupcakes.
I chose black forest cupcakes as a nod to the 70's ish theme party she was attending as black forest gateau was all the rage then.
I started off with a basic chocolate sponge cupcake, added black cherry pie filling(when its cherry season I will be making kirsch cherries) to the middle and topped it off with chantilly cream and shards of chocolate. Instead of adding vanilla to the chantilly I used cherry brandy instead. The hubby was my taste tester, and he thought they were fab. My friend, thankfully reported back to me that they went down a treat. Phew, I was a bit worried no one would like them.
For the first time in a long time, I felt like I had some self worth back. I've had a bit of the winter blues and this was just the thing I needed!

Memories
One of my fondest memories of my childhood was the smell of baking wafting through our house at Christmas. every year my mum would spend a couple days in the kitchen baking sugar cookies, spritzer cookies, squares and other gooey treats for us to snack on.
I decided a couple of years ago, I wanted to keep this tradition of Christmas baking, so I nominate the Sunday before Christmas as my baking day. My son and husband dash back and forth into the kitchen to see whats been made and sneak treats out of the kitchen when I'm not looking!
As its just the 3 of us and no immediate family near us, I keep a bit back for us and tray up the rest to give away to friends, just because.
Thankfully I haven't had any complaints, and the general consensus seems to be that the orange cranberry cookies and mincemeat twirls are the favourites.

My First Time
Good morning everyone in blogging land!
This is my first time blogging so bear with me while I get to grips with it!
I love to bake and make sweet things for others to enjoy. I want to share my thoughts on things and share my baked creations with you. I don't make fancy fondant covered cakes, but simple tasty things that one can sit down with a cuppa and savour. Hope you enjoy! xx
